I’ve Been Building Websites for 12 Years
The truth is, I’ve been building websites for 12 years. But honestly, I don’t have much to show for it—at least not in terms of a huge portfolio. The only examples I can point to right now are Green Street Electrical and JoinJerome.com.
That said, today is very different from the last 12 years. But before I explain what’s changed, let me take you back.
How It Started
Back when I started, I hired a woman to build me a website. After I paid her, she disappeared for a month and a half. I was devastated. That website was my last hope. I had just spent $550—my last bit of money—and I had a business to start. The fear of being scammed and left empty-handed put the fear of God in me.
Before that, I had already wasted $1,800 on Yellow Pages listings. It turned out to be the final year people actually used the phone book. I knew it was a bad move the moment we walked away from the sale. So, this website—it had to work. It was all I had left.
Learning to Build My Own Website
Out of desperation, I opened up my computer and tried to figure out how websites were made. I had no idea where to start.
Eventually, I discovered that a website is just a group of files stored on a server. These files can be accessed on any browser by entering the correct URL. That made sense to me. A URL simply calls specific files, which are then displayed as a website—indexed by the domain name.
From there, I had to learn what kind of files were needed, how to create them, and what they were supposed to contain.
That was the beginning of my journey into HTML, CSS, and PHP. I spent the next two years learning those coding languages and eventually reached the point where I could build and upload a site to a browser. But my early websites definitely had issues.
I spent the next six to seven years improving my skills. I focused on responsive design, mobile optimization, and graphics. Over time, I gained more control and ability in every website I built.
My Love-Hate Relationship with WordPress
Eventually, I stumbled upon WordPress. At first, I hated it. I had spent years learning how to code from scratch, only to discover a platform that allowed people to build websites without knowing a single line of code.
I ignored WordPress for two years out of pride. But once I gave it a real shot, I realized how powerful it was. Today, I use WordPress almost exclusively. I don’t rely on code anymore, but I can still edit and customize code when needed. I also understand that WordPress still runs on an HTML structure underneath—it just makes things easier.
What I Do Today
Now, I build WordPress websites, and I genuinely enjoy it. I love the tools, the plugins, the customization, and—most of all—I love analytics. I enjoy creating sales funnels and strategizing how users will interact with a site based on the information being presented.
My goal is always to help the website make money. And to do that, the website must earn trust and provide exactly what the visitor is looking for.
The $500 Website Package
Today, I offer a website package that costs just $500. That includes a full WordPress website—professionally designed and fully optimized. I chose to focus on affordable websites because I know that’s what most people are looking for right now. But don’t let the price fool you—these websites carry the value of a $1,500–$2,000 build.
I don’t have a ton of flashy proof to show you, other than my own website and its backend. But if you look inside, you’ll see that everything is built correctly, optimized, and ready for marketing.
When you choose me, you won’t just get a website—you’ll get a marketing campaign tailored to your business, with strategies you can use for email and social media to drive traffic and sales.
The Secret Sauce
What makes my websites stand out is what I call the “secret sauce”—the search engine optimization (SEO) pages I include. That’s the part I learned last, but it’s also the piece that made me fully confident in building websites for others.
Let’s Look at the Proof
My own website is Green Street Electrical. I began revamping it in mid-March. From that point on, we can track its growth through analytics. If you have questions, we can pull up the data together and I’ll show you the evidence.
I build $2,000-quality websites for a fraction of the cost. Why? Because I’ve been there. I know what it’s like to be down to your last dollar, hoping something works. And I also know what it feels like when it finally does.
